LJ ate my first post!!!! And I had this whole spiel typed up about not posting anything since I got the journal. I can't remember what I said, but if anyone is going to the event in NY, please stop here and let me know how it went. I don't think I'll be able to go when Alan's here *pout* but I did get to see him two years ago when he was in town!

A friend in the know passed this info on to me. I hope I post it correctly this time.

As part of our on-going celebration of the 50th anniversary of the original U.S. publication of The Fellowship of the Ring (the first part of J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic The Lord of the Rings), Houghton Mifflin, Tolkien's official U.S. publisher for over sixty years, is proud to tour world-renowned artist Alan Lee across the United States. Lee has won international acclaim for his illustrations of J.R.R. Tolkien's books, and he was also one of the conceptual designers onThe Lord of the Ringsfilm trilogy, for which he earned an Academy Award.

Lee will be on a nationwide tour December 4 -- December 11 to discuss his long involvement in bringing the visual world of Tolkien to life, both on the page and the screen. Lee's visual presentation will include a slide show and a display of a dozen original illustrations. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A with fans and a booksigning.

Check the tour schedule below to see if he'll be visiting a city near you!

December 4 @ 12:00 noon
Books of Wonder
18 West 18th Street (b/t 5th & 6th Ave)
New York, NY 10011
212-989-3270

December 5 @ 2:00 p.m.
Philadelphia Free Library
1901 Vine Street
Philadelphia, PA 19103
215-686-5322

December 6 @ 7:00 p.m.
Olsson's
2111 Wilson Blvd.
Arlington, VA 22201
703-525-4227

December 7 @ 7:00 p.m.
Borders
830 N.
